Hard to believe Halloween was just over and now Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. The stores are already in full Christmas decor. They probably were long before Halloween.

Here's to a wonderful holiday season.
Cheers and best wishes in 2012!!

PS: I started swimming lessons at my new gym. 2011 has been full of new experiences and challenges. Can't wait for 2012. Peace to all and good health.

My new bike

For some reason this picture wouldn't post on my previous post, so here it is:

Sweet new ride

I just got this bike today - September
12, 2011!
I had been trying out another bike for
a month or so. That worked fine, but it was
older and the first time i took it out,
the chain fell off twice. Thank Goodness
for cell phones. Anyway, Craig of Paramount
Sports found me a NEW bike - these
are actually called Adult-trikes.
It has an electric assist so if my legs
get tired from pedaling, i just press a
button on the read-out and it gives me
quite the kick. It goes almost too fast, just
something i need to get used to. I'm looking
forward to taking fall pictures and just going out and
exploring. A great means of exercise and
a new and fun way to get out.

Summer was busy, always goes by
way too fast!! I enjoyed taking pictures
throughout summer!

5K 2011

My TV interview on 5k

Where oh where has the time gone. I can't believe its been since March that I have blogged.
I have been busy and working hard training for my 5k which was May 20th. My uncle did it with me and it was the most rewarding experience ever. Having people cheer me on throughout the whole race, was incredible - simply incredible. I was filled with emotions when people said come on girl, you can do this. You are almost there.

My uncle and I did a trial walk of the route and I bet i had to sit down 6x. It looked much shorter on the map. My hip hurt a LOT after that walk but I kept pushing through - i didn't want my uncle to go get his truck. I'm finishing no matter how much pain I was in. I never did tell him i was in pain. When i got home I emailed my PT guy and said what can i do, he said to just rest. I had an appointment with him Thursday the day before the 5K. So he just stretched me out and was able to pin-point where my pain was. Its kind of sciactia (sp?). By Wednesday morning I felt better - i had been taking ibprofen so that helped. I was scared I wouldn't be able to continue my 5k on Friday or that I would have to stop in the middle.

So the day of the race, I took my parents & aunt and uncle out for lunch at Olive Garden. Then we met back at my parents. My mom dropped all of us off at the Fargo Dome to save on traffic and parking. We then had time to rest a bit in the Dome as my uncle had already picked up our bib numbers and packets. We headed out to where people were lining up a little after 6. I think they said there were 7,000 people in the 5k alone. I was able to sit in a chair, there would be no way I would be able to stand for a half hour before the race started. The TV interview happened about 6:15, we were short on time but he was very professional and it turned out well.

We were off!! I held on my uncle's arm for most of the way just for added stability with the crowds. My dad and aunt walked the whole way - i was so happy they were there too. My aunt did such a great job of taking pictures of capturing moments that really matter. I'm so glad she got pictures. My uncle kept asking if i was ok, if i needed to sit and I was determined to not sit down again!! I just kept pushing through and this time I had no pain! YAY!! I got to walk with my dad and uncle and also my aunt! It really was a momentous day I will never forget. Crossing that finish line was the most exhilerating feeling ever. YES, I made it!! My friend Lisa and Carrie saw me after the race and gave me BIG hugs. They were so proud of me!!

My mom picked us up after and we went back to their house and had beer, wine and sandwiches. My mom made my favorite salads and cheesecake!!

I made a book with the pictures my aunt took. I ordered myself a copy and one for my aunt and uncle. They LOVED it!!

As for 2012, I hope to do it again!! Maybe even the 10k!!

All things are possible if you believe!!

Wow!

Ok, How can it already be March and I haven't blogged since January! I need to get with it!!

First I have become obsessed with www.lisaleonardonline.com her jewerly is fantastic. It's unique and personal. She has these new pewter decorative oval wall hangings that would be perfect for an entry way or when you leave each day. I have bought a few necklaces as gifts for my sister and mom and they have been pleased. I love them. Now I must decide what to get myself. If you sign up for newsletters, she sends you new items and you get a discount code. COOL!!

Also, I just ordered my first Canvas print from Shutterfly. Can't wait to get that! I had my walls painted last week and i want something new for above my couch. So exciting. Shutterfly.com rocks!

Frustrations

As most of you know I use a device called a Lightwriter to communicate. I just type in what i wish to say and people can either read it or wait and let my 'sexy male voice' speak for me.
On December 23rd, it started acting up by loud screeches - it makes me jump every time! By the time my sister picked me up it was ok, I was leery of it though. It worked fine throughout Christmas and the week after. Its been working fine this week and today i went to check it and it had that annoying high pitch screech. Grrrr. I have restarted several times. I'm sure I'll have to send it in and i should have done so before but i thought it would be ok. Maybe it doesn't like our cold winters! I last sent it in Feb of 2009. They do have ones in town I can rent, if I'm not too late. Oh well, on goes life and life's technologies! Thank God for them but such a pain when they break down. Kind of like a home computer, phone etc. You feel lost without it.

HAPPY 2011!!!

Its already January 5th in a brand new year. It's time to start the new year off with great memories, lots of picture taking and being inspired by others and their creativity.
We got two blizzards over New Years giving us a total of 45 inches of snow. Usually we are at 19 inches by now. Now we have to worry about the flooding. Since I was snow bound, i took down all my Christmas decorations and after midnight I decided to take my BIG wreath down that I bought from a friends son who is in Cub Scouts. Let me tell you I made the BIGGEST mess ever. i had needles everywhere. I was trying to stuff the darn thing in a bag. Long story short, its all cleaned up and in the garbage.
Our Christmas was really nice. Nobody even fought. My 15 year old nephew was a delight to be around - then again I hadn't seen him or my sister since Labor Day. He is so handsome when he showers and smiles. I even got a family photo which totally made my Christmas! I had the self-timer set to go off 10x!!!

I'm still keeping up at gym. I did a few laps around gym, then was on one of the bikes, then i decided to try a regular treadmill without being hooked up like I am when I use the Lite Gaite.
It went well. I was able to pump it up to my usual speed. I just got a little wobbly after i got off, same thing happens when i get off Lite Gaite. I usually have my therapist grab my hand til I get my momentum. So I'll keep up with that for awhile.
Then I was taking pictures of all the staff, I was trying to get them all. Its hard when they all have different schedules. They are all wondering what I'm up to. How dare they figure it out.

Its been fun!! HAPPY New Year to all!
